Chapter 5
Rina's POV
I woke up the next morning, not quite remembering what had happened the night before. Suddenly, I felt a heavy heartbeat through my back, and hot breath on the back of my neck. I went stiff and slowly turned my head. I could see Beast's head inches from mine, and he was curled around me protectively, still sleeping, with a slight smile on his lips.
'He really cares about me... but- he couldn't possibly love me. Not with my scar...'
With my leg being broken, I couldn't do much else except wait for him to wake up. I looked around the room with my eyes, noticing that there was a small amount of light coming from a win

Beast's POV
I couldn't believe she'd come into my room when I'd told her not to! I was so furious at her, then I saw her scar.
'What the- she's a freak! I can't fall in love with her!'
I told her to get out, and she said she was leaving. She stormed out of my room and I heard a door slam from the main hall.
'She's gone. She must have thought I meant to leave the mansion.'
I looked outside and noticed there was another blizzard, like last night. I immediately felt guilty.
'She's in trouble! She doesn't know where to go, doesn't know the woods! She'll get hurt!'
I ran downstairs to the front door shoved it open, and went ou

Rina's POV
When I first saw the Beast in the castle, I thought it had been a trick of the light. When he told me that as a result of my trespassing ans stealing from him that I had to stay here, I was furious! How dare he force me to say here! But I knew he was being fair, so I promised to stay.
'He probably could have killed me- it would have been his right- instead of giving me the offer he did.'
He led me to a room on the first floor, at the end of a hall.
"You can stay here. The mansion is your home now, so you can explore if you wish. Only, stay away from the third floor."
'His voice sounds like that of an animal stru

Beast's POV
It had been nearly nine years. Nine years since that enchantress destroyed my life, changed me into a monstrosity. The mansion had been enchanted to meet my needs for food and comfort. It did nothing to give me hope, though.
"Hello? Is anyone here?"
A voice. I could tell it was female as soon as I heard it.
'A girl? What is a girl doing here?'
I quietly walked downstairs, hoping against hope that I wasn't dreaming again. I'd dreamed so often about someone coming...
There. Standing in the main hall, shaking snow off herself, was a girl, about twenty years of age, small, fair-skinned, short-haired, a little skinn

Chapter 1
Rina's POV
The sound of birds singing woke me up soon after sunrise. Hearing them in winter like this made them sound all the better.
'Wow, do I ever love hearing that first thing in the morning. Guess I'd better get up, though.'
I forced myself out of bed and to my closet, where I put on and old red t-shirt, blue jeans, and a thick winter jacket, as I was planning to go out today. I pulled on a hat, arranging it so it would hide the scar on my left cheek in shadows. Whenever I saw that scar, I remembered the day I got it. Right now, I didn't want to remember, so I rushed out of the house and into town, heading right for the

She was beautiful. When I saw her enter my mansion that night, I knew right away that she was beautiful, but I sensed that something was wrong about her.
She was... too beautiful.
Her long hair, her pale skin, her long dress, she was just too beautiful, and yet, I couldn't stop looking at her, gaping at her.
"Why, young man. Have you never seen an enchantress before?" her voice sounded like wind through the trees on a spring day.
Hearing her say the word enchantress made my blood run cold. I'd heard ta
